    Vanilla Shortbread!
    by: Gerhild Fulson

You'll find the translation of this recipe at German Shortbread Cookie with the easy instructions.

Normally "Vanillekipfern" dough needs to rest in the fridge for about one hour before shaping.

In this recipe, however, that step can be omitted. Don't know why, it just can!

Even though the traditional shape for these are crescent, that doesn't mean you can't just make them into balls and press gently with a glass and get circles.

You can also try your own creations. But one thing you shouldn't change is that you should use vanilla sugar. If you can't buy any, then you can easily make some.

Just buy a vanilla pod (or several) and sink them into a tall jar of sugar. Close the jar and place in a cool dark place for at least a week. The aroma will let you know that you've got something special!
