Oma's German Dinners eCookbook

The best ingredients, simply put together with love, create dishes that Oma would serve her family and guests. Sometimes simple is best.

These are traditional German meals. Nothing fancy. Home cooking at its finest. Classic dinners that often revolve around meat and potatoes... with gravy, of course!

Sometimes, depending upon the region, spätzle or bread dumplings replace the potatoes. Other times, eggs replace the meat. But nothing replaces the comfort level these dinners bring to the table.

Oma's German Dinners eCookbook

Follow with any of the traditional dinner combinations I’ve included. You’ll see that I often mix and match side dishes. I encourage you to do the same. After all, red cabbage fits to pork hocks just as much as sauerkraut. Bratkartoffeln and schnitzel? YUM!

Enjoy the pairings I’ve included and then see what combinations become your favorites.

Here's what you'll cook & bake with my help:

Oma's German Dinners eCookbook.
  • Karotten-Apfel Salat (Carrot & Apple Salad)
  • Krautsalat (Cabbage Salad)
  • Radieschensalat (Radish Salad)

Oma's German Dinners eCookbook

Many German recipes use ingredients only available in Germany. Since I don't live in Germany, having access to these isn’t always easy. So, I experimented with my Mutti’s recipes (many came from her hand-written notes) and made them with ingredients easily purchased at my local Canadian grocery store.
