Ingredients:

For The Cake:

  • 1 cup (227 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature (or margarine)
  •  ½ cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2¼ cups (293 grams) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon (1.5 grams) salt
  • 2 teaspoon (8 grams) baking powder
  • 3 ounces (151 grams) chocolate, grated
  • ½ cup  (120 milliliters)  glühwein

For The Glaze:

  • 1 cup (125 grams) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 milliliters) glühwein

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a rimmed 10x17 inch baking sheet and set aside.
  2. Beat the butter together with the sugar until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each one.
  3. Add the flour, salt, baking powder, chocolate, and glühwein and mix thoroughly. Spread the batter onto the baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool on the baking sheet on a wire rack.
  5. To make the glaze, mix together the powdered sugar and the remaining 2 tablespoons (30 milliliters) glühwein. Brush the glaze over the cooled bar cookies and let it set.
  6. To cut the bar cookies into diamond shapes, start by making parallel cuts horizontally across the entire pan, about 1 inch apart. Next, make parallel cuts diagonally across the pan, also about 1 inch apart.
  7. Dust the bar cookies with powdered sugar just before serving.
