Zucker Kuchen

by Veronica
(United States)

This is a sugar cake that my grandmother would make for me when I visited. Have you heard of it or maybe have the recipe?

ZuckerKuchen (Butterkuchen)
by: Gerhild

Zuckerkuchen, Sugar Cake, is the same as Butterkuchen which is Butter Cake. This is a yeast cake that usually has sugar and butter over the top of a yeast base.

It can also have nuts, cinnamon, and/or sour cream on top as well - all added before baking. The aroma of this as it's baking is amazing. Better than fresh bread!

You'll find the recipe by clicking on Butter Cake Recipe.

I think you'll like it :-)

Sugar Cake
by: Gerhild

Does anyone have a recipe that they can share with Veronica?

I recall both a yeast-based cake and also one with a regular cake base.

This "Zuckerkuchen" was a traditional "Coffee-time" cake that my Mom often served as well. She usually added almonds to the top as well.

How many different recipes can we find for this treat? Share yours!

Gerhild :-)
