Woodmush?

by Lois
(USA)

My Mom used to make a dish called Woodmush . . . in German I think it is spelled . . . holzmoose or holzmuise . . . not sure . . . it's made with 3 eggs, 1 cup of water, 1 tsp. salt & flour to make a batter like pancake batter.

You fry it in an iron skillet and chop it up in pieces. Then you take hamburgers and fry them. Make a lettuce only salad and pour the drippings from the hamburgers into the lettuce.

On your plate you put the Woodmush, then the lettuce on top, then the hamburger (chopped) and eat it. YUMMO!

Please help me find this for my grand daughter. I would appreciate it.

Woodmush or Holzmoos
by: Gerhild

Lois, you have me stumped! Holzmoos sounds interesting, yet, I can't find anything like it in my German cooking resources.

Perhaps it is a very regional dish or the name is one your Mom created.

I'm hoping that one of my readers will recognize the ingredients and method and will be able to help with the recipe.

I'll keep looking as well, so that you can pass this on to your granddaughter.
