Simple Rice Pudding Recipe

This simple rice pudding is so easy to make - just measure everything into a casserole and put in the oven.

This is a great way for kids to learn how to make rice pudding recipes - having fun measuring and mixing. Everything goes into a 1-quart baking dish - easy to clean up after. rice pudding

I prefer to double or triple the recipe to have enough rice pudding to serve (everyone always wanted extra!). Just use a larger dish depending on the amount you make.

A golden crust develops as the pudding is baking; I usually remove it before I stir (and then eat it - 'cause it's delicious!)

Homemade rice pudding was always a treat for our children. This oven-baked version gave a fragrant cinnamon aroma throughout the house during its baking time. The kids could hardly wait for it to be served!

The golden color of the pudding is due to the cinnamon and raisins being included for the baking time. If you want a white rice pudding, just stir in the raisins towards the end of the baking time. Sprinkle with cinnamon when serving.

Simple Homemade Rice Pudding

Rice pudding with cinnamon Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp. rice (use regular long grain)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (if desired)
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. butter

    Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • Combine all ingredients in a 1-quart baking dish.
  • Bake, uncovered, for 2 hours, stirring once during cooking.
  • Serves 3 - 4

    Hints:

  • When including the cinnamon, the rice pudding takes on a golden color once it's baked. If you want a white rice pudding, you can sprinkle the finished pudding with cinnamon instead.
