Knip Soup
by William Himes
(Bend, Oregon)
Looking for a recipe for a soup that has potato, noodle, and ham called knip. Need HELP on this one! William, I do not know what to make of this one. The word "knip" itself is not German. The closest I can come to is "Kneipe" (pronounced with a long "i" sound, so it would be a phonetic pronunciation of "knip").
A Kneipe is a bar or pub. Perhaps this a a soup that was common in a certain bar in Germany. Do you have any other information about this soup? It could be a common, traditional German soup, however it is not too usual to have both noodles and potatoes in the same soup.
Perhaps one of our other readers recognizes this and will send in further information.
